Ferial Park hosts major events since the opening of the Suez Canal.
Under the patronage of Major General Adel El-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, the Mishkat Nour Foundation organized a large community camp in the historic Ferial Park, attended by the crew of the Logas Hope, the world's largest floating library. The camp featured numerous activities with a traditional Egyptian feel, aiming to restore good taste to the country's neighborhoods. Under the slogan "Art is a Means to Modify Behavior" and to revive popular musical heritage, the Mishkat Theatre Troupe performed Aziz Osman's monologue, "The Eyes of My Beloved," which delighted the audience.
In addition to Egyptian folklore and folk arts performances, the Logos Hope volunteers also participated in a variety of artistic performances and dazzling performances as a tribute to Port Said. This demonstrates the multiculturalism of the ship's staff, making the historic Ferial Park, which hosted the Suez Canal opening ceremonies more than 155 years ago, a stage that embraces the cultures of the world's peoples.
The eighth edition of the multicultural community camp also included a handicrafts exhibition. To showcase various small and handmade craft products of all kinds, the ship's guests from Egypt were impressed, and they were keen to purchase some of them.
This falls within the economic empowerment programs launched by the Mishkat Nour Foundation in 2017. The Foundation successfully graduated 2,000 trainees in various crafts, followed by a series of exhibitions in various regions under the "Smartness" project, one of the projects of the Ethics Kiosk Program. The program then began empowering families to produce food for the neediest families through more than 30 kitchens, in addition to the Mishkat Tekke, which serves thousands of Port Said residents.
The camp also featured awareness campaigns on the grounds of the park, discussing bullying issues and calling for the consolidation of ethical principles.
The Foundation launched an initiative to support parks with cultural, artistic, and craft activities to empower them economically and promote good taste.
It announced the opening of participation for artists, musicians, writers, and painters, supporting talent and including them in its exhibitions to empower them economically.
It's worth noting that the Port Said Governorate and the Mishkat Noor Foundation signed a global protocol with the ship titled "September is the Month of Ethics." Under this protocol, numerous events were organized and numerous awareness brochures were published in both Arabic and English in the ship's library, promoting ethics through ancient Egyptian heritage, encouraging visits to Egypt, and promoting tourism. At the conclusion of the event, the Port Said Governorate and the Mishkat Noor Foundation honored a number of foreign guests and companies that provided full support to all previous events, contributing to the attractiveness of Port Said as a tourist destination. The Foundation also invited influential figures from various governorates, public figures, and television channels to cover Port Said's achievements. This contributed to the arrival of more than 90,000 visitors in just three weeks, putting Port Said back on the domestic tourism map.
