Amid Celebrations of Thousands of Residents, Governor Adel Al-Ghadban and Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, Chairwoman of Mishkat Nour Foundation, Inaugurate the Second Phase of the Development of Fatima Al-Zahraa District

Governor of Port Said, Major General Adel Al-Ghadban, inaugurated today the second phase of the development project in Fatima Al-Zahraa area in Al-Dawahy district, carried out by Mishkat Nour Foundation for Science and Cultural Enlightenment. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, Chairwoman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Deputy Governor Eng. Amr Othman, and executive leaders, in a festive event celebrated by thousands of local residents.

In a vibrant atmosphere, residents of Fatima Al-Zahraa and Al-Dawahy warmly welcomed Governor Al-Ghadban and his delegation. Together with Dr. El-Gammal, he cut the inauguration ribbon amid cheers, chants, and traditional ululations from the crowd, as hundreds of balloons were released to mark the occasion.

In her speech, Dr. El-Gammal congratulated the residents on the completion of the second phase, which included upgrades to housing blocks (inside and out), streets, and lighting. She extended her gratitude to Governor Al-Ghadban for his leading role in the project, implemented in partnership with the governorate, and thanked the Governance and Housing Departments, Al-Dawahy district administration, the Directorate of Education, and the two executing companies (Atlas and Seif).

She praised the work of Mishkat Nour’s team, describing them as “sons and daughters of Port Said who tirelessly serve their community,” through educational, cultural, social, medical, and developmental services, including medical and educational convoys. She also announced that necessary medicines for upcoming medical convoys will soon be provided with the governor’s approval, in cooperation with the Universal Health Insurance Authority and Dr. Mostafa Shaaban.

As part of the development, a detergent manufacturing project was launched in Fatima Al-Zahraa, training local residents to produce cleaning products. The project successfully manufactured over 13,000 cartons, to be distributed across Port Said. Plans are underway to increase production capacity to achieve self-sufficiency for the governorate and public institutions, while simultaneously raising household incomes. Families also received training in various handicrafts such as sewing, crochet, gypsum work, kilim weaving, embroidery, and beadwork.

Dr. El-Gammal urged residents to preserve the newly developed facilities, educate their children, and uphold good manners, reminding them to follow the noble character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the spirit of his birthday.

For his part, Governor Al-Ghadban expressed his great happiness with the project’s completion, recalling his visits to the same site back in 2011 when the area was plagued by slums and deteriorating houses. He noted that the state had since constructed high-quality housing units, which were now further upgraded in cooperation with Mishkat Nour Foundation. The renovations covered both internal maintenance of the apartments and external improvements to the buildings, giving them a renewed and dignified appearance.

The Governor also announced the launch of the third phase of development in Fatima Al-Zahraa, to begin following the second phase, in collaboration with the foundation. The project aims to create a dignified living environment, improve infrastructure, enhance street lighting, and foster behavioral awareness among children and youth regarding cleanliness, order, and good citizenship.

He praised Mishkat Nour Foundation’s role in educating and empowering students across all stages, as well as in providing in-kind, medical, and social services. He thanked Dr. El-Gammal for her leadership and dedication, together with her team of young people from Port Said, who work selflessly to serve their community.

The Governor concluded by congratulating residents and affirming that he regularly visits the area every two weeks to monitor progress and check on living conditions. Mishkat Nour Foundation, he added, remains present around the clock to handle residents’ concerns and provide support.

The ceremony, hosted by veteran media presenter Mohamed Saad, opened with the national anthem performed by the music ensemble of Mishkat Nour’s Continuous Learning Center. This was followed by two musical pieces and a performance by the Foundation’s choir, who sang “Misr Hiya Ommi” (Egypt is My Mother) and “Tahya Masr” (Long Live Egypt) in sign language. The performances were met with enthusiastic applause, and the Governor expressed admiration for the young performers, taking commemorative photos with them.
