Major General Adel Al-Ghadban and Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal Inaugurate the Summer Exhibition for Small Traders and Handicrafts

On Saturday evening, Major General Adel Al-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, inaugurated the Summer Exhibition for Productive Families and Small Traders at Al-Montazah Park Square, next to Al-Shaati Mosque on Tarh El-Bahr Street. The exhibition is organized in cooperation between the Port Said Governorate and Mishkat Nour Foundation for Knowledge and Cultural Enlightenment and will run for one month initially.

Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Mishkat Nour Foundation, along with several public figures and executives, welcomed the Governor. Accompanied by El-Gammal, Major General Al-Ghadban toured the exhibition, which features dozens of small traders showcasing a variety of goods including clothing, footwear, cosmetics, and leather products such as bags, belts, and wallets, in addition to other merchandise for which the city is well-known.

The exhibition also witnessed a strong presence of productive families presenting their diverse handmade creations, ranging from handicrafts and hand-made wooden, beaded, crochet, and macrame works, to other artisan products. The Governor also observed training sessions conducted by Mishkat Nour Foundation for women in the production of detergents, rugs, crochet, sewing, and more. These training programs aim to empower women to work from home, increase their income, and achieve self-reliance.

Every year, the Foundation seeks to provide vocational training for hundreds of families across various crafts and industries. Women trainees from productive families, supported by Mishkat Nour Foundation, showcased the products they learned to make under the guidance of specialized trainers provided by the Foundation free of charge — including detergents, crochet, sewing, embroidery, and rug-making.

The exhibition also featured an active participation of young people who presented fast food, hot and cold beverages, in addition to children’s entertainment such as games, Mishkat Nour’s puppet theater for awareness, masks, toy cars, DJ music, and light performances that captivated and entertained visitors.

The exhibition is part of the Economic Empowerment Program, one of Mishkat Nour Foundation’s flagship initiatives designed to support and enable families in production, marketing, self-sufficiency, and income generation. The Foundation plans to train and equip 500 families in various crafts by the end of the year.

Since its opening, the exhibition has attracted hundreds of visitors, creating a vibrant atmosphere and generating positive outcomes for participating vendors.
