The Mishkat Nour Foundation's Free Food Bank Opens in the Attendance of Major General Adel El-Ghadban, Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, and Mr. Alaa Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt
Major General Adel El-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, and Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Mishkat Nour Foundation for Knowledge and Cultural Enlightenment, inaugurated the Mishkat Nour Foundation's Free Food Bank in the Sharq District on Sunday. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Alaa Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt, executive leaders, and businessmen.
The governor gave the go-ahead for the foundation's food bank to feed the poor residents of the governorate's slum-replacement areas. It is one of the foundation's branches of the "Moustoura Homes" program, whose goal is to assist the poor, alleviate their suffering, and provide daily food for those unable to afford it.
The bank produces between 1,100 and 5,000 meals daily, seven days a week, which are delivered to residents, especially those with a disability in their homes. After inaugurating the hospice and observing the preparation and distribution of meals, Major General Adel El-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, and the guests expressed their happiness with the idea and implementation, which aims to provide daily food to those in need and help them overcome the burdens of life, especially essential food. This goes a long way in alleviating their suffering in meeting their daily needs. He thanked Dr. Nour El-Hoda El-Gammal, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, and expressed his appreciation for the role of civil society organizations, especially those that are purpose-driven and able to reach those in need and provide them with a variety of services.
It's worth noting that the Port Said hospice is the second in the governorate after the Port Fouad hospice, which began operating four years ago, and the last to date in the Foundation's chain of free food hospices, which has branches in Cairo, Luxor, and several other governorates.
In addition, the Foundation operates more than 70 home hospices, staffed by needy women who cook for a fee, and their produce is distributed free of charge to the neediest families. Following the opening, Major General Adel Al-Ghadban and Dr. Nour Al-Huda toured the Handicrafts Exhibition in Egypt Square, which is held for productive families who have learned and been trained by specialized trainers at the Mishkat Nour Foundation, free of charge. The Foundation provides these families with exhibitions to market their products as part of its Shatara program, which teaches beneficiaries and families various crafts and professions to manufacture at home, raising the standard of living for low-income families.
The guests praised the exhibits, particularly the handicrafts, including accessories, food, macramé, beadwork, Chinese gold, gypsum, wax, and more. The governor called for the continuation and expansion of handicraft exhibitions in the coming period.
The governor and the chairman of the Agricultural Bank presented meat coupons worth EGP 400 from the bank and EGP 1,000 from the governorate to each exhibitor to encourage them to continue their activities of manufacturing and producing handicrafts.
